I had a comment and emails from this blog readers about 3D butterfly.
The patterns were not developed by me; however, I made a lot of butterflies from the different patterns and I have revised pattern several times to make my version of 3D butterfly pattern. I am glad to share my 3D butterfly pattern.
3D Butterfly
Thread size 10. Hook size #7/1.65mm
Special Stitches:
Beg shell: [ch3, dc, ch3, 2dc] in sp
Shell: [2dc, ch3, 2dc] in sp
Picot: ch3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook
Lpicot: ch5, sl st in 5th ch from hook
Ch 12 join to form a ring.
Row1:Ch1, 2 sc in loop, ch2,[2 sc in loop, 2ch] 7 times, join with st in top of beg ch1 (8 ch sp)
Row2:Sl st in next st, sl st into ch sp, beg shell in same sp, (shell in next ch sp) 7 times, join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg shell. (8 shells)
Row3: Sl st in next st, sl st into ch sp,
Make Front Lower Wings: (ch3, 3dc, picot, 5dc) in same sp, sl st in sp between next 2 shells from prev row, (5dc, picot 4dc) in next ch sp, sl st in sp between next 2 shells from prev row.
* Make Front & Back Upper Wings: (2dc, 2tr, 3dtr, Lpicot, 1dtr, 2tr, 1dc) in next ch sp, sl st in sp between next 2 shells from prev row, (1dc, 2tr, 1dtr, Lpicot, 3dtr, 2tr, 2dc)in next ch sp, sl st in sp between next 2 shells from prev row.
Make Back Lower Wings: (4dc, picot, 5dc) in next ch sp, sl st in sp between next 2 shells from prev row, (5dc, picot 4dc) in next ch sp, sl st in sp between next 2 shells from prev row.
* Repeat. Join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg. Fasten off.
Make Antennae & Finishing:
1. Fold the piece in half. Making sure the fold is between the 2 sets of upper wings.
2. Make Body and Antennae: ch 30. Fasten both ends of ch (do not twist the ch loop).
3. Place the antennae piece around the center of the butterfly and pull knot through the loop.
4. Cut off excessed thread to make antennae.
